Zika Virus Update From Phenix City's Eye Doctor

Researchers at the Washington School of Medicine in St. Louis have been able to identify genetic material from the Zika virus in tears. This study was conducted on mice, but can may help explain why some Zika patients have developed an eye disease, uveitis, which can cause permanent vision loss.
The research raises the possibility that Zika could be spread from eye infection from those infected with the disease.
Stay tuned to the Gordy EyeCare blog as we'll update you with more information on the study as we have it.
