Two of the more common eye diseases, macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema, may now be detected by artificial intelligence researchers say. The AI tool can scan optical coherence tomography and make a decision as to whether the person should be referred for treatment within 30 seconds. Even more astounding, it can do so with a 95% accurate rate.

The benefit of this AI tool is that is mobile. Allowing it to be taken to where eye diseases are most prevalent. It can also rate the severity of the disease.
