Fighting Digital Eye Strain

Digital Eye Strain

Technology rules the world, but unfortunately it's having and impact on our eyes. In children and adults, staring at a screen, whether it's a computer, tv, or mobile device is causing digital eye strain. Eye fatigue, decreased productivity, eye twitching and red eyes are just some of the symptoms.

To combat digital eye strain, there are several ways to fight:
  • Limiting use of digital devices - Where possible, limit your use of screen based devices. Take breaks frequently if you need to use them by looking away from screen at something with some distance.
  • Reduce glare on the screen  - The screen you're looking at is difficult enough for your eyes, minimize glare to reduce the work your eyes have to do.
  • Adjust your screen - Regardless of the screen, it should be in front of your face and slightly below eye level.
These are just a few tips to combat digital eye strain. For more information, contact your Phenix City eye doctor, Gordy Eye Care.
