Heavy Alcohol Use Can Damage Your Eyes

Alcohol Can Impact Eye Health

We know about the risks of excessive alcohol consumption over a prolonged period of time on the body. There should be no surprise that studies are showing that it can impact your eye health as well.

A recent study shows that binge drinking, or excessive alcohol consumption, can lead to damage in the eyes and contribute to blindness. The nerves in the eyes are more delicate than nerves in the rest of your body, and can be impacted by alcohol's dangerous effects. Older people are more at risk with the effects of alcohol because they do not metabolize alcohol as well as younger people.

If you have questions about your alcohol use and its impact on your eyes, contact the Gordy EyeCare team. We're here to help.
